Every 11 seconds a home based business is started. According to Forbes Magazine, by the year 2012 half of all households will be involved in a home based business. The reason is simple to see, you can no longer be comfortable putting your future in someone else’s hands. It’s riskier than bungee jumping, playing the lottery or going to Vegas and placing all your money in one bet. The time has come where people have opened their eyes and realized that there is no more safety net. You cannot count on social security, your 401k, or any other investments. The answer lies in taking control of your own financial destiny.
Once you take the dip and decide to get into business for yourself, you may find that you need to take a course in Entrepreneurship so you don’t lose your shirt. There are so many options available and even afterward making a choice; you could be nipping off more than you chew. Can you imagine starting your own franchise and then being lumped with the millions of other little business owners trying to make a living? Let’s not even talk about all the overhead you could be facing. So it stands to reason that the masses opt for an online business. Internet marketing is attractive to many because there is low start up cost and low overhead. Note that I said “low” and not “no” start up cost. If you think you can start any business for free with absolutely no investment or some ongoing fee, then you may as well go open up a lemonade stand in front of your mother’s house. To be fair there are a few with no money required but you should ask those people how they are doing and what marketing expense they have before jumping on that band wagon.
So now that we know some investment is involved, it’s all about how much you can afford. There are businesses you can start with little investment. Now one thing I would strongly caution you to think about is how much time and money you have. You must devote time to learn about your product or service and how to market online. You do not learn all of this by osmosis. I’m not saying you’ll need to write technical manuals but you are going to have to learn a few things. If you really aren’t into studying and learning then I suggest you pick a company that has a very simple product or service. I’d be happy to provide you with a list of choices that I have come across and reviewed. I can also share with you what I have found to be the simplest business to learn with an investment equal to the price of about two or three tanks of gas.
